How Michelle Could Have Been Worked Into Fuller House
Michelle's Fashion Line Could Have Been Big Business For Both The Olsen Twins and Fuller House
DJ played by Candace Cameron Bure was 10, Stephanie played by Jodie Sweetin was 5 and the youngest Tanner sister Michelle played by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were only 9 months when Full House started in 1987.
When Full House ended in 1995, Candace was 19, Jodie was 13, and Mary-Kate and Ashley were only 8 years old when the show ended.
After Full House had ended, the cast moved on for several decades and had no idea that they would reprise their roles 21 years later in the Netflix series Fuller House, except for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
When Fuller House started in 2016, Candace (DJ) was 40, Jodie (Stephanie) was 34, and Mary Kate and Ashley (Michelle) were only 30 years old in 2016.
In the first debut episode Stephanie asks Danny “Where’s my little sis,” and Danny says “Well, Michelle sends her love, but she’s busy in New York running her fashion empire.”
Throughout the series, they had hoped that either Mary-Kate or Ashley would decide to reprise their role as Michelle in Fuller House. But ultimately Michelle never came home.
Michelle was indeed mentioned only in 9 episodes, she was mentioned in both “Tommy Tales” and “Cold Turkey” by Tommy both times. Stephanie mentions Michelle in “Moving Day”. In “Love Is In The Air” she was mentioned by DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy.
She was also mentioned by DJ in “Fuller Thanksgiving” and “Oh My Santa”, she was also mentioned by DJ and Steve in “The Prom”. She was mentioned by Max in “Welcome Home, Baby To Be Named Later.” She was also mentioned by Jesse in “Be Yourself, Free Yourself.” She was also mentioned by Kimmy in “Something Borrowed” which was the last time the show mentioned Michelle.
But I do have some ideas on how they could have still worked Michelle’s character into the show even if the Olsen twins were never actually seen on the show.
One idea is that since Fuller House was set in modern times, the characters all had emails and cell phones, they could have worked into some episodes where Michelle calls in her family and let them know how she’s doing and what she’s been doing in the past 21 years.
Another idea I had was that if one of the Olsen twins had decided to reprise their role as Michelle in Fuller House, the showrunners could have written an episode that had a fictional clothing line called “Michelle Tanner” or “Michelle Elizabeth Tanner,” something like that.
Another pro to this story would be if Jeff Franklin wanted or liked the idea, Mary-Kate and Ashley could have launched a real-life “Michelle Tanner” or “Michelle Elizabeth Tanner” line within the fashion empire.
I’m not much of a fashion person, but I think it would have been cool to either have seen or heard Michelle on Fuller House, but also think that people who liked Michelle the best would probably not want to miss out on getting some clothing that were made by Michelle Tanner, literally.
With them being on the show it would been a good opportunity for them to advertise their business even if they were playing Michelle with her own ‘fictional fashion line” on the show, but they could also turn Michelle’s fashion line into a real one in the empire.
It was nice seeing most of the cast reunite on the show, but the show also, both Full House and Fuller made their shows as realistic as possible, it’s also realistic that not every family can always reunited, but at least they could have shown up in some episode or the show could have worked a way to integrate their fashion empire into a few episodes, to show what Michelle had been up to for the past 21 years since the original show ended.
I just had some ideas about how Fuller House could been if Michelle had been there, but in the end, Fuller House was still Full House 21 years later. I mean they only needed 3 women DJ, Steph, and Kimmy, like Danny, Jesse, and Joey..
The premise of Fuller House was 3 women raising 3 boys, just like Full House was 3 men raising 3 girls.
If anyone had a right to create a “Michelle Tanner” or “Michelle Elizabeth Tanner” fashion line, it would be Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, since both played Michelle in Full House. In essence, they are Michelle Tanner, if even they want to leave that part of their lives. But they have to recognize that Full House is what made them what they are today. If it wasn’t for Full House, they might not even have their fashion empire today.
What are your thoughts on how Michelle could have been integrated into Fuller House in both scenarios if one of the Olsen Twins did decide to reprise her role, or even if Michelle was not seen on the show but they still interacted with her.
